Ascolta l'audiodescrizione

Made between the first century B.C. and the first century A.D., the so-called small cisterns were part of a larger rainwater harvesting project wanted by the Roman Empire which also included the structure of the large cisterns.

After being abandoned, they underwent many transformations: they were used as a prison in the 19th century and then as the seat of the old archaelogical museum of the city in the second half of the 1900s.
