Founded with the title of St. Maria Novella della Carità in the 14th century, in 1491 the church passed to the order of the Carmelites: in 1783 it was completely renovated in its current appearance on a project by the architect Pietro Augustoni da Como.
Inside, on the main altar, was preserved the 1687 altarpiece with the Adoration of the Shepherds by Giambattista Gaulli, known as il Baciccio now preserved in St. Domenico Church.
